"Holding Close" is a gestural painting in which I painted the entire canvas in soft, sometimes unresolved shapes and colors to emphasize a universal way in which mothers hold their babies. I thought about defining the mother and baby's individual features and bodies more and then thought, "No, I want them to come across as one being."
